LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Moonlight" star Alex O'Loughlin has closed a deal to star in CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" remake. He will play head of the Hawaii State Police Detective Steve McGarrett, the role originated by Jack Lord in the 1968-80 series.
O'Loughlin, who was an early favorite for the part, joins recently cast "Lost" co-star Daniel Dae Kim, who will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly. The new "Hawaii Five-0" hails from feature writers and "Fringe" co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and "CSI: NY" executive producer/co-showrunner Peter Lenkov.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Better Off Ted" star Andrea Anders has landed the female lead opposite Matthew Perry on ABC's comedy pilot "Mr. Sunshine."
Nate Torrence also has been cast in "Mr. Sunshine," which stars Perry as Ben, the manager of an aging San Diego stadium who realizes on his 40th birthday that he can no longer get by on just his charming, noncommittal ways. Anders will play the cute and tomboyish Alice, who is in a friends-with-benefits relationship with Ben. Torrence will play the clumsy son of Ben's boss (Allison Janney).
For Anders the casting is in second position to ABC's sophomore comedy "Ted," which is not expected to be renewed.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Six Feet Under" alumnus Freddy Rodriguez has been tapped as the lead on CBS' Brett Ratner-directed pilot "Chaos," a drama that revolves around rogue CIA operatives who combat bureaucratic gridlock, rampant incompetence and political infighting.
Rodriguez, who had a recurring role on ABC's "Ugly Betty," will play a dedicated and naive agent who believes he can make the world a better place.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Numbers" star David Krumholtz is set as the lead in Ron Howard's untitled IRS comedy pilot for Fox.
The show is a workplace comedy set at an Internal Revenue Service district office. Krumholtz will play a proud auditor who is hounded constantly by his boss. For the actor, the pilot is in second position to CBS' veteran "Numbers," whose chances of returning are slim.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - David Strathairn has landed a lead role in ABC's drama pilot "Matadors," which centers on two long-feuding families. One populates the Chicago district attorney's office, and the other manages the city's most influential private law firm.
Strathairn, who most recently co-starred in the HBO telefilm "Temple Grandin," will play the patriarch of the family that works in the state attorney's office.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Cole Hauser has been tapped to co-star on NBC's Jerry Bruckheimer-produced drama "Chase."
The show concerns a high-priority fugitive-apprehension team in South Texas. Hauser will play a seasoned ex-cop who co-heads the unit.
