Nikkei up 1.2 percent after EU support for Greece

TOKYO Feb 12 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 1.2 percent on Friday, led higher by shares such as Canon Inc (7751.T) after a pledge from European leaders to support debt-laden Greece eased fears of a broader euro zone crisis.

Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) gained 0.7 percent after the Asahi newspaper reported that President Akio Toyoda will attend U.S. congressional hearings to explain a series of safety issues [ID:nTOE61A06V].

The benchmark Nikkei .N225 rose 118.92 points to 10,082.91, while the broader Topix .TOPX gained 1 percent to 891.92. (Reporting by Elaine Lies)
