Naomi Campbell hosts Haiti show that mourns McQueen

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Model Naomi Campbell spearheaded a fundraiser fashion show on Friday to benefit Haiti featuring outfits from some of the world's top designers and a tribute to British designer Alexander McQueen.

Campbell, who organized the half-hour show held during New York's fashion week, strutted down the runway alongside designers Diane von Furstenberg and Donna Karan, model Helena Christensen as well as celebrities including musician Chris Brown and Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne.

Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson kicked off the "Fashion for Relief Haiti" benefit paying tribute to the "sadness" of the death of McQueen, whose label had contributed outfits for the show before he was found dead on Thursday in his London home in what media reported appeared to be suicide at the age of 40.

"To Alexander McQueen, thank you," Ferguson said solemnly, before models and celebrities brightened up the runway showing off donated outfits from designers and labels including Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, as well as several from McQueen.

Tickets for the show were available to the public for between $100 and $150 a ticket while the outfits will be auctioned online at www.net-a-porter.com starting March 15 for two weeks. Proceeds will be donated to raise funds that will be directed toward mothers and children in Haiti.

"The rebuild is a long job," Campbell, 39, told Reuters before the show. "It's something that has to be ongoing." The January 12 quake, Haiti's worst natural disaster, killed 212,000 people and wrecked 250,000 homes, according to the government.

"Fashion for Relief" was set up in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina to raise money for charity from the fashion community.
