LONDON Feb 17 (Reuters) - Stock index futures pointed to European shares extending a winning run on Wednesday, following strong gains for U.S. and Japanese markets.

At 0708 GMT, DJ Euro Stoxx STXEc1 futures were up 0.9 percent, Germany's DAX futures FDXc1 were up 0.6 percent and France's CAC-40 futures FCEc1 were up 0.7 percent.

U.S. stocks posted their biggest daily percentage gain in three months on Tuesday after strong revenue from drugmaker Merck (MRK.N) and regional manufacturing data instilled confidence in the economic outlook. The S&P 500 .SPX rose 1.8 percent. (Reporting by Brian Gorman)
