CALGARY, Alberta Feb 17 (Reuters) - Suncor Energy (SU.TO) said on Wednesday that distillate supply from its 135,000 barrel per day Edmonton refinery has been curtailed after a day-earlier incident cut hydrogen and steam production at the facility.

Sneh Seetal, a spokeswoman for Canada's biggest integrated oil company, said Suncor is taking steps to reduce the impact of the shortage for its customers until the problem, which she declined to specify, is repaired.

"We are managing our supplies to mitigate the impact as much as possible," she said.

On Tuesday, Suncor reported increased flaring at its Edmonton plant and said the problem occurred after an outage from its external hydrogen and steam producer.

The plant relies on a third-party supplier for its hydrogen and Seetal said the company does not yet know when it will be able to return output to normal levels. (Reporting by Janet McGurty and Scott Haggett; editing by Rob Wilson)
