US House committee investigating drilling practice

WASHINGTON Feb 18 (Reuters) - The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee said on Thursday it was investigating the potential impact of hydraulic fracturing on the environment and human health.

The committee is seeking information from eight energy companies that use hyraulic fracturing to extract oil and natural gas from unconventional sources, including shale beds.

The companies the committee is requesting information from include Halliburton (HAL.N), BJ Services BJS.N and Schlumberger (SLB.N). (Reporting by Ayesha Rascoe)
