VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Vancouver city officials said on Wednesday the barricade that collapsed and injured 19 people during a free Olympic concert has been replaced.

The accident occurred late on Tuesday when the crowd surged toward the stage at the start of a concert by Canadian band Alexisonfire and knocked over the barricade.

Tuesday's concert was shut down right after the incident so the injured people could be treated. Officials said two of the injured suffered leg fractures and the venue re-opened on Wednesday.

Thousands of people have been celebrating daily during the February 12-28 Olympics at a series of downtown concert venues and special pavilions set up by the city and Games sponsors.

Alexisonfire issued a statement on Wednesday apologizing for the incident and thanking its fans "for cooperating and not making a bad situation worse."
