MEXICO CITY, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Wal-Mart de Mexico said on Thursday it plans to open 330 new outlets in 2010, most of them in Mexico, its main market.

The company, also known as Walmex (WALMEXV.MX), is Mexico's leading supermarket chain but also runs restaurants and clothing stores.

Chief Executive Scot Rank told analysts at the company's annual gathering that Walmex would spend 12.5 billion pesos in expanding its operations in Mexico this year, focusing on its no-frills Bodega Aurrera Express format, aimed at very low-income earners.

In Central America -- where Walmex recently bought 519 stores in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica -- the company expects to open 30 more outlets this year.

Walmex also announced plans to open more than 160 in-store branches of its bank in Mexico. (Reporting by Cyntia Barrera Diaz, Gabriela Lopez)
