Olympics-Figure skating-Takahashi eyes golden finish at worlds
TOKYO |
TOKYO Feb 20 (Reuters) - Daisuke Takahashi plans a golden end to his career at next year's world championships after becoming Japan's first Olympic men's figure skating medallist.
"I was going to retire after these Olympics but I have decided to go on until next year's world championships in Tokyo," he told Japanese reporters after taking bronze in Vancouver.
"I haven't won a world gold championship gold medal so I've made that my target," added the 23-year-old. "I'm not thinking of the next Olympics."
Takahashi, the 2007 world silver medallist, missed the 2008-09 season after rupturing knee ligaments before returning in time for the Vancouver Olympics. This year's world championships are in Turin next month
