UPDATE 1-Dendreon posts wider Q4 loss

Feb 22 (Reuters) - Biotechnology company Dendreon Corp (DNDN.O) reported a wider quarterly loss as operating expenses more than doubled.

For the fourth quarter, the company posted a net loss of $32.5 million, or 28 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $8.8 million, or 9 cents a share, a year earlier.

Revenue fell 25 percent to $21,000.

Analysts on average expected the company to post a loss of 28 cents a share, before items, on revenue of $60,000, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Shares of the company were down 1 percent at $32.50 in extended trade. They closed at $32.80 Monday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Shailesh Kuber in Bangalore; Editing by Unnikrishnan Nair)
