EU to express anger over Dubai killing - sources
BRUSSELS |
BRUSSELS Feb 22 (Reuters) - European Union foreign ministers are expected to agree a statement condemning assassinations and the use of fake passports at a meeting on Monday, diplomatic sources said.
The statement may not mention Israel specifically but is intended to show disapproval over the killing of a Palestinian militant in Dubai last month by a team of assassins using forged European passports who Dubai believes were sent by Israel.
"It will be quite a strong statement. It will make reference to 'extra-judicial killing' and the fact that these passports were used," one diplomatic source said. "It doesn't matter if it doesn't mention Israel, the message will be clear." (Writing By Luke Baker, editing by Timothy Heritage)
