Boston Scientific unit charged over defibrillators

WASHINGTON Feb 25 (Reuters) - A Boston Scientific Corp subsidiary was charged with failing to report safety problems with some of its implantable defibrillators to the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Justice said on Thursday.
It said a formal guilty plea agreement was expected to be filed in federal court later. The charges, filed in Minnesota, involved medical device manufacturer Guidant LLC.
The Justice Department said Boston Scientific had previously announced in November that it would pay $296 million on behalf of Guidant in connection with the charges. (Reporting by James Vicini, Editing by Maureen Bavdek)
