BRYAN CAVE
Law firm Bryan Cave said it hired Wayne Withers, previously at Emerson Electric Co (EMR.N) as of counsel in its St Louis office.
GIBSON, DUNN & CRUTCHER
The law firm said Amal Bouchenaki joined its New York office as counsel. Bouchenaki was previously at Orrick in Paris.
BTIG
Broker dealer BTIG said it hired Richard Greenfield and Walter Piecyk, previously at Pali Capital, to head its new fundamental equity research group.
STROOCK & STROOCK & LAVAN
The law firm said it added Joel Goldberg as a partner in its investment management practice group in New York. Goldberg was previously at Wilkie Farr & Gallagher.
COWEN GROUP (COWN.O)
Cowen Group said it launched Ramius Trading Strategies, a multi-manager fund headed by William Marr, who was previously at Merrill Lynch.
FRIED, FRANK, HARRIS, SHRIVER AND JACOBSON
The law firm said it hired Shannon Lowry Nagle as a partner in its New York office. Nagle will join the firm's bankruptcy and restructuring practice.
ROYAL BANK OF CANADA (RY.TO)
RBC Capital Markets said it hired Raymond Schumertl as a director in global macro fx sales in its Hong Kong office. He was most recently at Morgan Stanley (MS.N).
Separately, Royal Bank of Canada's wealth management division said it hired a team of financial consultants from Stifel Nicolaus. The group, which includes Mike Lamb, Cindy Dellinger and Valerie DeSimone, specializes in fixed-income institutional sales and is based in San Francisco.
SCOTTISH WIDOWS INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP
Scottish Widows said it named Francis Ghiloni, previously at Evaluate Technologies, as head of group partnerships.
CANACCORD FINANCIAL (CF.TO)
Canaccord Adams Ltd named Ken Wesson, Daniel Addison, Andy Willson and Stephen O'Brien to its secondary distribution and trading platform, effective immediately. Wesson will lead sales trading. All four join Canaccord from Macquarie.
MASSMUTUAL FINANCIAL GROUP
Baring Asset Management, which is a part of the MassMutual group, appointed Roberto Lampl to the newly created role of head of Latin America equity. Lampl, who was with ING Investment Management, starts immediately and will be based in the United Kingdom.
FORESIGHT GROUP
The asset management firm named Federico Giannandrea as investment director. Giannandrea joins from Absolute Energy Capital LLP. He begins in his new role immediately and will divide his time between Rome and the UK.
GREAT-WEST LIFECO INC (GWO.TO)
Canada Life Investment Division, the group insurance and investment services subsidiary of Great-West, named Frank Maret as head of investment marketing and client service. Maret, who joins from Insight Investment, will be based in London and begins immediately.
NOMURA HOLDINGS INC (8604.T)
The investment bank named Jai Rajpal as head of fixed income for Asia ex-Japan. Rajpal, who will be based in Hong Kong, joined Nomura in 2008 from Lehman Brothers.
JO HAMBRO CAPITAL MANAGEMENT GROUP
The boutique investment management company named Emery Brewer and Ivo St. Kovachev as emerging markers fund managers. Both have worked previously with Dreihaus Capital Management.
FRESHFIELDS BRUCKHAUS DERINGER
The law firm named Kay Ian Ng as managing partner in Hong Kong. He will begin in his new role at the end of April. Ian Ng is global co-head of the Capital Markets Group at the firm.
LCH.CLEARNET GROUP
The clearing house group named Jacques Aigrain as non-executive chairman. Aigrain, who joins from Swiss Re, will be based in London and will begin his new role from April 6.
ALVAREZ & MARSAL
The firm, which is managing the Lehman Brothers Bankruptcy, named Just Spee as head of the Benelux restructuring & performance improvement operations. Spee was earlier with Visiocorp PLC.
The firm also named Michel Grummel as managing director and head of the Benelux dispute analysis & forensics practice. Grummel joins from Deloitte. Both will be based in Amsterdam.
CITIGROUP INC (C.N)
The firm named Sanjiv Sawhney as global head of fund services for Citi's securities and fund services business. Sawhney joins from JPMorgan (JPM.N) and will be based in New York. (Compiling by Abhiram Nandakumar in Bangalore and Elinor Comlay in New York)
