Kazakhstan to borrow $500-700 mln in H2 2010

ASTANA, March 1 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan will borrow between $500 million and $700 million on international markets in the second half of this year, Finance Minister Bolat Zhamishev said on Monday.

"It makes no sense to borrow less than $500 million because the rate would be bad then, so we plan (to borrow) $500 to $700 million," he told reporters.

The government has earlier said the borrowing could be done through a Eurobond issue. (Reporting by Raushan Nurshayeva; Writing by Olzhas Auyezov; Editing by Gleb Bryanski)
