Nikkei rises 0.2 pct on Wall St; metal stocks up

TOKYO, March 1 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.2 percent on Monday, led by shares of exporters such as Tokyo Electron (8035.T) after U.S. stocks rose on better-than-expected growth data.

Metal and resource shares such as Sumitomo Metal Mining Co (5713.T), Japan's second-largest copper smelter, gained after Saturday's massive earthquake that hit Chile, the world's No. 1 copper producer. [ID:nN28210286] [ID:nCHILE]

The benchmark Nikkei .N225 rose 24.54 points to 10,150.57, after rising 0.2 percent on Friday.
