DETROIT, March 2 (Reuters) - Chrysler is expected to report flat U.S. sales for February from a year earlier, as improved car sales offset lower truck sales, a source close to the company told Reuters on Tuesday.

The No.3 U.S. automaker sold "a few hundred" more vehicles in February than a year earlier when U.S. sales totaled 84,050 units, the source said, asking not to be identified because the results have yet to be announced by Chrysler.

The results would mark the first time since December 2007 that Chrysler's U.S. monthly sales did not decline from the same month the previous year.

Chrysler representatives declined to comment before the company announces sales results later on Tuesday.

Car sales rose 38 percent in February from a year ago and three of its brands -- Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge -- saw sales growth, the source said.

Sales for its Ram truck brand declined in February, the source said. (Reporting by Soyoung Kim; editing by Gunna Dickson)

What an uneducated idiot the 1st poster is! Chrysler had contributed billions of dollars into the US economy & still employees a million Americans. Millions of people still love Chrysler, jeep & dodge vehicles. As they still sell about 1 million vehicles a year even in this depressed market! Also Chrysler has 4 vehicles on the National insurance institutes top safety awards list for 2010, while Ford has 1 vehicle, GM has two & Toyota has none! Get a clue already!
