SANTIAGO, March 4 (Reuters) - Chile's Codelco, the world's top copper producer, said on Thursday a massive weekend earthquake hit less than 0.5 percent of its annual output.

Codelco, which produced 1.7 million tonnes of copper last year, said a smelter at its El Teniente mine complex was down, but expected it to restart operations on Thursday. (Reporting by Mica Rosenberg and Alonso Soto)
