UPDATE 1-ECB's Weber:Greece's problems are not euro zone problem
* Weber says Greek woes not a reflection of full euro zone
* Says will continue to deliver price stability

BERLIN, March 5 (Reuters) - Debt-stricken Greece's difficulties are not the problems of the euro zone as a whole and the euro will not become a soft currency, European Central Bank Governing Council member Axel Weber said in an interview released on Friday.
"The euro is not a soft currency and won't become one either," Weber told Wirtschaftswoche magazine. The interview was conducted about two weeks ago, though Weber's comments on Greece were added late on Thursday.
"The difficulties Greece is in at the moment are not problems of the whole currency union," added Weber, who is also president of Germany's Bundesbank.
Weber vowed to deliver price stability.
"We will continue to assure price stability in the future as well, both the (ECB's) mandate and the Eurosystem's successes to date speak for that," he said.
The ECB took a small step towards unwinding its extraordinary support for the euro zone economy on Thursday, but left much of its cash buffer for banks in place as it forecast a fragile recovery. [ID:nLDE62307B] (Editing by Susan Fenton)
