UPDATE 1-PartnerRe sees $220-$320 mln Chile quake claims
* Sees $40 mln-$70 mln in Xynthia windstorm claims
* Says estimate is preliminary
March 9 (Reuters) - Reinsurer PartnerRe Ltd (PRE.N) said it expects initial claims worth $220 million to $320 million, on a pretax basis, related to the earthquake in Chile.
The company also said it expectd claims of $40 million to $70 million related to the European windstorm Xynthia that swept across several European countries including Portugal, Spain, Belgium and France, last month.
Industry losses from the one of the most powerful earthquakes in a century, that hit Chile last month, are estimated to be of $6 billion to $10 billion, while those from Xynthia windstrom are expected to be $2 billion to $4 billion, the company said in a statement.
The claims are expected to be contained primarily within global property and casualty, catastrophe and Paris re sub-segments, the company added.
PartnerRe's loss estimate is net of reinstatement premium and retrocession, it said.
