Greek PM says EU could intervene to help Greece

WASHINGTON, March 10 | Wed Mar 10, 2010 12:40pm EST

WASHINGTON, March 10 (Reuters) - Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou said on Wednesday that if speculators continue to force Greece to pay high borrowing costs, the European Union will be prepared to intervene in markets.

Papandreou told reporters "if speculation ... against Greece continues", ideas were being discussed in Europe for the EU to "enter the fray to intervene."
