UPDATE 1-Dignity FY profit rises; upbeat about 2010 outlook

March 11 (Reuters) - British funeral home and crematoria firm Dignity (DTY.L) on Thursday posted a 6 percent rise in full-year pretax profit, aided by a steady growth in funeral operations, and said it remained positive about its full-year outlook.
Dignity, which is the UK's only listed funeral services provider, also raised its 2009 dividend by 10 percent.
"The current year has started well and the group's performance is in line with the board's expectations," Chief Executive Mike McCollum said in a statement.
For the 52 weeks ended Dec. 25, the company said its pretax profit rose to 37.5 million pounds ($56.1 million) from 35.4 million pounds last year. Revenue grew 5 percent to 184.7 million pounds.
Analysts on average were expecting a full-year pretax profit of 36.1 million pounds, on revenue of 186.0 million pounds, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
The company declared a final dividend of 8.07 pence, taking its total dividend for the year to 12.1 pence, up from last year's 11.0 pence.
Dignity shares closed at 677.50 pence on Wednesday on the London Stock Exchange.
