March 11 (Reuters) - Chinese solar wafer maker LDK Solar Co Ltd (LDK.N) raised the lower end of its fourth quarter revenue forecast on expectations of higher wafer and module shipments, sending its shares up 3 percent in after-market trade.
LDK, the world's largest maker of multicrystalline wafers, currently expects fourth-quarter revenue in the range of $300 million to $310 million, compared with its previous estimates of $280 million to $310 million.

LDK, based in Xinyu City in the south-eastern part of China, said it expects production of 4,500 metric tonnes (MT) to 5,500 MT of polysilicon in 2010, and sees gross margin of 15 to 20 percent for the same period.
The company sees wafer shipments in the range of 1.3 Gigawatt (GW) to 1.4 GW in 2010. Separately, LDK Solar said it signed photovoltaic module guarantee cover with Munich Re's Special Enterprise Risk unit, which will cover the performance warranty of LDK Solar modules for a period of 25 years.
