SANTIAGO (Reuters) - Chile's navy lifted a tsunami warning for the country's coast after strong aftershocks shook the capital Santiago on Thursday, following the swearing in ceremony for new President Sebastian Pinera.
The alert remained in effect for Easter Island.
Chile was hit by an 8.8-magnitude earthquake on February 27 that killed hundreds of people.

The big one that occurred a week ago, at 3:30 AM, was particularly nasty, which hit here in Santiago with force of 8.0. Luckily it took 30 seconds to wake up, from a deep sleep, and another 30 seconds to come to and realize that it was an earthquake, another 10 seconds to understand that this is a big one, another 10 seconds to realize that the building is riding it out well, and then finally the fear that the intensity may suddenly shift into something much more violent and powerful. But it finally died down, after several minutes, and there were women screaming, in the other apartments, but nobody was hurt.
Hopefully, in few months, this is going to settle down for another 10 years or so.
This earthquake is going to receive a lot of study.
