TOKYO, March 12 (Reuters) - Japan's government has nominated business executive Yoshihisa Morimoto as a candidate to join the Bank of Japan board, a lawmaker said on Friday.

Morimoto, 65, is an executive at Tokyo Electric Power Co Inc (9501.T) and vice chairman of an electricity industry business lobby.

The BOJ's nine-member board currently has two vacancies. One will be filled by Ryuzo Miyao, a professor at Kobe University, who will take up the post in time to attend the central bank's policy-setting meeting next month. (Reporting by Tetsushi Kajimoto)
