News Corp looks to sell Jamster - paper

LONDON, March 14 | Sun Mar 14, 2010 11:39am EDT

LONDON, March 14 (Reuters) - News Corp (NWSA.O) is looking to sell Jamster, a mobile phone content business which provides ring tones and online dating services, said UK newspaper the Mail on Sunday.

The paper reported a spokesperson for News Corp as confirming that a sale was on the cards and saying it may be hard to sell Jamster at the same level as the 251 million pounds ($381 million) it paid for it in 2006.

JP Morgan has been retained to look at selling Jamster, the paper added.

It said mobile phone network operators including Vodafone (VOD.L), Telecom Italia (TLIT.MI) and Spain's Telefonica (TEF.MC) could be interested in acquiring Jamster.

No one at News Corp could immediately be reached for comment on the report. ($1=.6592 pounds) (Reporting by Sarah Young; Editing by Greg Mahlich)
