U.S. says ties with Israel still strong

WASHINGTON, March 16 | Tue Mar 16, 2010 2:13pm EDT

WASHINGTON, March 16 (Reuters) - White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Tuesday a U.S.-Israeli dispute over Jewish settlement plans does not alter the United States' long-standing commitment to Israel's security.

"Mature bilateral relationships can have disagreements and this is one of those disagreements," he said. "It does not break the unbreakable bond we have" with Israel on its security. (Reporting by Steve Holland and Ross Colvin)
