WASHINGTON, March 17 (Reuters) - Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen, visiting the United States to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, said on Wednesday his country was fighting its way back to economic recovery and renewed growth.

Speaking to a group of U.S. leaders, Cowen said Ireland had worked hard to repair its banking system and build a new economy.
