U.S. dollar hits 20-month low vs Canada currency

LONDON, March 17 (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar hit a 20-month low against its Canadian counterpart on Wednesday, as the U.S. currency extended losses after the Federal Reserve maintained its pledge to keep interest rates low for an extended period.

The U.S. dollar CAD=D4 fell around 0.2 percent on the day to C$1.0118, its weakest since July 2008.

It also suffered against the Australian currency AUD=D4, which rose 0.2 percent to $0.9218, its highest since late January.
