Swiss franc falls briefly on Hildebrand comments

LONDON, March 23 | Tue Mar 23, 2010 3:44am EDT

LONDON, March 23 (Reuters) - The Swiss franc briefly fell to a session low versus the euro on Tuesday after SNB President Philipp Hildebrand said the central bank would counter an excessive rise in the franc decisively.

The franc fell to a session low versus the euro EURCHF= of 1.4371 francs before reversing to reach a session high of 1.4331.

Hildebrand said the SNB would not allow franc appreciation to lead to deflation risks, but added that the SNB forecasts show price stability is not in danger in the short term. [ID:nZAT010782]
