NEW YORK, March 24 (Reuters) - KPMG [KPMG.UL], one of the "Big Four" accounting firms, on Wednesday said it has elected John Veihmeyer, as its new U.S. chairman and chief executive.

Veihmeyer, 54, succeeds Timothy Flynn, 53, who will now focus on his position as chairman of KPMG International, which is the global network for KPMG affiliates in 146 countries.

Veihmeyer, who has been deputy chairman of KPMG's U.S. firm since 2005, will take up his five-year term beginning June 10

Flynn has been chairman of the U.S. firm since 2005, and chairman of KPMG International since 2007.

The firm, which provides tax, audit, and consulting services, also said it has elected Henry Keizer, 53, as deputy chairman and chief operating officer of KPMG's U.S. firm. (Reporting by Emily Chasan)
