Salix climbs after FDA OKs Xifaxan

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Salix Pharmaceuticals Ltd (SLXP.O) shares jumped 6.8 percent to $35.80 in premarket trade on Thursday after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration late Wednesday approved the company's Xifaxan antibiotic as a treatment for reducing the risk of a liver disorder in adults.
