  March 31 (Reuters) - India's Bharti Airtel (BRTI.BO),
which agreed a $9 billion deal to buy Kuwaiti Zain's (ZAIN.KW)
42 million customers in 15 African countries, said it would
rank fifth among the world's wireless telecoms firms.
 Following are the global top 15 mobile firms by customers
(based on end-2009 data, unless stated otherwise).

 NOTES ON CROSS HOLDINGS:
 * Singapore Telecommunications (STEL.SI), which has
investments in six mobile firms in Asia, including Bharti
Airtel and Telkomsel, has 285 million regional mobile
subscribers at end-December including the customers of these
associates.
 * Similarly, Axiata Group Bhd (AXIA.KL), which has minority
stakes in India's Idea Cellular (IDEA.BO) and Singapore's
MobileOne (MONE.SI), says its regional mobile subscribers were
at 120 million as of December 2009, including Idea's more than
50 million.
 * Telenor's 174 million users include those of Russia's
Vimpelcom (VIP.N), where the Norwegian firm owns 33.6 percent
and has 29.9 percent voting rights.
 * France Telecom and Orascom share ownership of Egyptian
mobile operator Mobinil (EMOB.CA) and both count some Mobinil
subscribers in their totals.
