Meritage Homes Launches Private Placement of $200 Million Senior Unsecured Notes

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 6, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Meritage Homes Corporation
(NYSE:MTH), one of America's top 10 homebuilders, today announced its intention
to offer, subject to market and other conditions, $200 million aggregate
principal amount of senior unsecured notes to qualified institutional buyers
pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the
"Securities Act") and outside the United States to persons other than U.S.
persons in reliance upon Regulation S under the Securities Act.
Final terms of the notes, including the interest rate and other terms, will be
determined through negotiations between Meritage and the initial purchasers of
the notes.
Meritage intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to repurchase or
redeem all $130 million aggregate principal amount of its 7.00% Senior Notes due
2014, and to repurchase a portion of its 6.25% Senior Notes due 2015.
