SUNNYVALE, CA, Apr 06 (MARKET WIRE) --
Calisolar, a supplier of solar cells, the critical component in solar
panels that converts sunlight into electricity, is ramping up commercial
shipments to U.S. and international customers. With support of national,
local and state programs, such as the recently passed SB 71, the company
expects to expand the capacity of its Sunnyvale facility from 60MW up to
200MW. This action will create over 100 new jobs while helping to reduce
pollution caused by the use of fossil fuels.

"I promised the people of California that jobs would be my number one
priority this year, and in part because of my proposal to exempt green
tech manufacturing equipment from the state sales tax, Calisolar will be
creating jobs," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "Clean technology and
companies such as Calisolar are the next wave of innovation that will
bring California's economy roaring back. And with incentives such as the
sales tax exemption, green companies have another reason to create
high-wage jobs and produce clean, renewable energy for our homes and
businesses right here in California."

Calisolar, a vertically integrated manufacturer in the solar industry,
has leveraged its technological innovations and intellectual property to
produce high-performance solar cells using silicon that costs a fraction
of the material used in conventional solar cell manufacturing.

"The state's bold move in passing SB 71 has established California as a
leader in supporting companies that are bringing low-cost technologies to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Calisolar CEO Roy Johnson. "Many
believe it's not possible to be competitive manufacturing in Silicon
Valley but with innovative technology and a level playing field created
by this legislation, Calisolar is well positioned to effectively compete
in a global market. Manufacturing locally will generate many new jobs in
our supply chain and surrounding community and ensure that the industry's
best talent stays in this area."

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, local officials, invited
guests, and company employees will celebrate the grand opening of
Calisolar's manufacturing facilities in Sunnyvale, Calif., today at 11
a.m.
