Van Drivers Voted Least Likely to Make an Insurance Claim

  MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM, Apr 06 (MARKET WIRE) -- 
Van drivers are least likely to make insurance claims, according to a
survey of 1,500 Swinton Commercial van insurance customers.

    The survey carried out by the van insurance retailer revealed that over
70% of commercial van drivers would rather pay for minor repairs than
claim on their insurance in order to maintain their no claims discount.

    The survey also found that almost a third of voters would leave scratches
and dents unrepaired, if it means preserving their no claims.

    The two most common reasons stated by van drivers for not making claims
were to preserve their no claims discount and the fact that minor
external damages to vehicles were not of an immediate concern.

    Other reasons included not having the time, not wanting to complete the
paperwork and to avoid paying any excess.

    The survey showed that car drivers were most likely to make claims,
followed closely by motorcyclists.

    Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton Commercial said: "We
would advise van drivers to carry out all necessary repairs. If they
don't want to lose their no claims discount, then paying up front is one
way to do this while ensuring that their vehicle remains road safe."
