MENLO PARK, CA, Apr 06 (MARKET WIRE) --
The Ellerdale Project is expanding its team with the addition of Christel
van der Boom as vice president of marketing. Van der Boom, who previously
was a senior vice president at Edelman, will work closely with Ellerdale
founders Jens Christensen and Arthur van Hoff to develop the company's
market positioning and marketing strategy.
Ellerdale has developed a real-time Web intelligence platform that
analyzes unstructured but valuable data in large, high-velocity data
streams such as Twitter and RSS feeds. By mining and semantically
analyzing the stream, Ellerdale finds actionable insights and trends, and
makes these available to financial services firms, advertising companies,
researchers, publishers and others for whom access to information from
real-time data makes a significant difference to their business. For this
purpose, Ellerdale has released an API to provide access to its data and
Web intelligence platform. In coming months, additional data streams and
features will be added to the platform.
A showcase of Ellerdale's technology is available on
http://trends.ellerdale.com, a site that provides visual insights into
topics that are trending on the real-time Web. The site analyzes the full
Twitter stream of 600 tweets per second in real time; Ellerdale is one of
a handful of companies that licensed the Twitter "Firehose" earlier this
month.
"Now that our technology has proven itself and we're seeing initial
interest for our data, we are ready to solidify our go-to-market
strategy. Christel will be instrumental in the process," said Jens
Christensen, CEO of The Ellerdale Project. "Her experience in developing
marketing communications strategies for technology and Internet companies
makes Christel a perfect fit for Ellerdale."
Van der Boom worked with numerous leaders of start-up and large
technology companies to develop strategic marketing communications
programs during her 10-year tenure at Edelman, the largest independent
public relations firm. Most recently, she oversaw a group of digital
media companies including JiWire, Clearspring and dmg digital.
Previously, she was deputy general at Edelman's Amsterdam office, where
she also led the technology and Internet practice.
"The 600 tweets per second and 20 hours of video uploaded to YouTube
every minute are a tiny fraction of the amount of unstructured data being
added to the Web every day," said Van der Boom. "These real-time streams
are largely untapped as sources for business decisions. Ellerdale has the
technology to filter, slice and dice the stream in real-time to unlock
valuable information about society's interests, attitudes, opinions and
intents."
