India SBI chief:may raise rates in couple of months

NEW DELHI, April 6 (Reuters) - State Bank of India (SBI.BO), the country's top lender, may raise its lending and deposit rates in a couple of months, said its Chairman O.P. Bhatt on Tuesday.

The state-owned bank will wait for the Indian central bank's monetary policy action to take a final call on interest moves, Bhatt said.

The Reserve Bank of India will announce its annual monetary policy on April 20. (Reporting by Manoj Kumar; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
