Argentine Senate confirms central bank president

BUENOS AIRES, April 14 (Reuters) - Argentina's Senate approved a government ally as central bank chief on Wednesday, handing President Cristina Fernandez a victory in a political battle over her plan to pay debt with foreign reserves.

Senators voted 35 to 34 with one absention to keep the bank's interim president, Mercedes Marco del Pont, in her post.
