Air France aims for long distance flights on Monday

PARIS, April 18 | Sun Apr 18, 2010 8:42am EDT

PARIS, April 18 (Reuters) - Air France (AIRF.PA) said on Sunday it aimed to operate seven long-distance flights from southern airports in Toulouse and Pau on Monday, weather conditions permitting.

All continental French airports are closed until at least Monday 0600 GMT due to the spread of a cloud of volcanic ash.

The long-distance flights under consideration were for Fort de France, New York, Dakar, Saint Denis de la Reunion, Hong Kong, Sao Paolo and Dubai.

There will be a coach service from Roissy Charles de Gaulle in Paris to the other airports. The airline is conducting test flights in the southwest of the country on Sunday. (Reporting by Marcel Michelson; Editing by Matthew Jones)
