IMF mission in Athens, ash delays EU staff arrival

WASHINGTON, April 18 (Reuters) - Most International Monetary Fund officials participating in talks with the Greek government on a possible aid deal had arrived in Athens, an IMF spokesman said on Sunday.

The spokesman said, however, the mission may be delayed to await the arrival of staff from the EU Commission after Iceland's volcanic ash grounded flights throughout Europe.

"It is possible that the start of discussions will be delayed until Wednesday, as the Greek authorities may wish to await the arrival of EU Commission staff in Athens, which has been delayed," the spokesman said in a statement. (Reporting by Lesley Wroughton; Editing by Eric Walsh)
