UPDATE 1-Shinsei Bank may name Toma new president - Nikkei

April 20 (Reuters) - Japan's Shinsei Bank (8303.T) may soon name Shigeki Toma, director of Isuzu Motors Ltd (7202.T), as new president to replace Masamoto Yashiro, the Nikkei business daily said.
Toma could take the charge as early as the end of June, when Yashiro will step down, the daily said.
Toma began his career at Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, one of the progenitors of Mizuho Financial Group Inc (8411.T) and has vast international experience, the Nikkei said.
The paper said Toma's international experience caught the eye of Shinsei, which has U.S. investment fund J.C. Flowers & Co as its top shareholder.
Toma also has the support of the Japanese government, another major owner of Shinsei shares, it added.
Shinsei is likely to post a net loss of about 100 billion yen ($1.1 billion) for 2009 due to higher loss provisions for property-related loans and its consumer lender business, two sources told Reuters. [ID:nSGE63C0J9] (Reporting by Vinay Sarawagi in Bangalore; Editing by Maju Samuel)
