KNOXVILLE, TN, Apr 22 (MARKET WIRE) --
Noted film historian Jeff Gordon has announced the May 10 release of his
book, "Foxy Lady" (Bear Manor Media), an authorized biography of
Hollywood Golden Age performer Lynn Bari.

"Foxy Lady" is the story of Bari's 41-year acting career in classic
Hollywood. Beautiful, talented, and seemingly destined for stardom, Bari
played roles in 150+ movies. Beginning at age 13 as a showgirl in the
1933 musical, "Dancing Lady" (which also featured Fred Astaire in his
movie debut), Bari went on to plays ingenues, wisecracking dames, femmes
fatales and romantic heroines.

Bari's ascent to A-list greatness, however, succumbed to forces including
her domineering, alcoholic mother and three exploitative marriages. "Foxy
Lady" is the story of both Bari and the stars she worked with -- a
heartbreaking human drama and an exhilarating view into the golden age of
the entertainment industry.

"Foxy Lady" reveals Bari, a contract player at 20th Century-Fox for 14
years, as professional and forthright. Often cast as "the other woman,"
Bari would work as many as three movies at a time. "I'd go from one set
to another shooting people and stealing husbands," she once told a
reviewer. Her volatile personal life included childhood events which
haunted her and an explosive marriage to impresario Sid Luft, who later
became third husband of Judy Garland.

"Foxy Lady" offers behind-the-scenes stories of Bari's films including
"Sun Valley Serenade," "Orchestra Wives," "The Bridge of San Luis Rey,"
and "Margie." Information comes from Gordon's interviews with the bright
and funny Bari and dozens of her friends, family members and fellow
actors, including Anthony Quinn, Alice Faye, Claire Trevor, Roddy
McDowall and George Montgomery.

Gordon's articles, profiles and commentaries on vintage movies have
appeared in "Classic Images," "Films of the Golden Age," "Focus on Film,"
and numerous other entertainment-oriented publications. A leader in film
societies in his native New York City and in Knoxville, Tennessee, where
he now lives, Gordon owns the 26-year-old Jagarts Collection, a vintage
cinema retail business and archive. "Foxy Lady" is his debut book.
