Level 3 Committed to Increasing Presence in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi
NEW ORLEANS--(Business Wire)--
Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: LVLT) today announced that it has expanded
its operations and is enhancing its local presence in the Gulf Coast area, which
includes New Orleans; Baton Rouge, La.; Jackson, Miss.; and Mobile, Ala. This
initiative reflects Level 3`s continuing commitment to enhancing its presence in
local markets throughout the country, with the goal of providing mid-market
enterprises with a world-class customer experience.

"I am pleased to see that Level 3 is investing in the Gulf Coast region and
bringing businesses a competitive alternative for communications services," said
Norman Katool, CFO and founder of Venture Technologies. "Venture Technologies
has a great relationship with Level 3 because they are focused on understanding
and meeting our business communications needs, which allows us to focus on
delivering comprehensive IT solutions for our customers."

In support of this local-expansion effort, Level 3 is growing and realigning its
local workforce in the Gulf Coast region to combine a local presence, in-depth
marketplace knowledge and broad expertise in the communications industry.
Through a combination of its extensive backbone network, metro fiber-optic
footprint, and a locally focused sales and customer support team, Level 3
provides greater opportunities for mid-market enterprises to take advantage of
Level 3`s broad portfolio of communications services.

"The Gulf Coast is a dynamic region with a burgeoning technology sector, and
Level 3`s extensive fiber footprint in the region ideally positions us to
support that growth," said Alan Aparicio, Level 3`s Gulf Coast general manager.
"This is a region where network reliability is the linchpin to building trusted
relationships, and Level 3 continues to prove its value to an increasing number
of Gulf Coast businesses."

Through this initiative, Level 3 will leverage existing network assets of more
than 300 metro fiber route miles throughout the Gulf Coast area. In addition,
Level 3 plans to augment network capacity in the region and expand the number of
businesses that are directly connected to the Level 3 network. This expansion
will provide mid-market enterprises with access to the full suite of Level 3
services and allow them to quickly and easily increase their bandwidth as
business needs grow.

The expansion of operations in the Gulf Coast area marks the continuation of a
locally focused strategy that Level 3 launched successfully in mid-2009. The
company is pleased with the progress of the initiative to date as evidenced by
increased sales from customers in the initial markets as well as higher reported
overall customer satisfaction for mid-market enterprises.
