Company also introduces lookthatup, the first iPhone application powered by
image recognition from LTU technologies
NEW YORK--(Business Wire)--
LTU technologies (www.ltutech.com), a pioneer of image recognition and search
technology, today announced the public release of its hosted API, LTU engine/ON
demand 1.2, featuring its industry standard image recognition algorithms, along
with its latest optimization for mobile applications. The company also launched
a new release of lookthatup (www.lookthatup.com), an LTU-powered mobile
application featuring visual search for the iPhone along with lookthatup.com
which lets users bookmark and add content to the growing lookthatup database.

LTU technologies is offering open access to its LTU engine/ON demand API - a
hosted image recognition platform - through a newly launched developer program.
This makes the technology readily available for developers looking to build
mobile applications that integrate image recognition functionality - basically
enabling anyone to build `Google Goggles - like`, augmented reality and other
applications.

"When we founded LTU 10 years ago, one of our focus areas was mobile visual
search. It has been great to see how the market has evolved and being a key
player in getting the technology to where it is today is extremely gratifying,"
said Alexandre Winter, president and co-founder of LTU technologies. "lookthatup
is a fun app, I hope you will love it, but the real purpose is to demonstrate
that the technology is available and ready for anyone to easily build custom
mobile applications or create marketing campaigns that feature mobile visual
search. "

With the introduction of the LTU engine/ON demand API, the same software that
has been used by global law enforcement agencies and large commercial
enterprises for nearly a decade is now available for developers and companies
that have historically not had the resources or budgets to invest in the
technology. LTU engine/ON demand features a progressive pricing model, and
hosting, maintenance and upgrades are handled by LTU technologies, making it an
attractive offering for smaller companies as well as existing LTU clients
looking to free up internal resources.

lookthatup - point, tap, search and share

With lookthatup, iPhone users can simply point and tap to get more information
about a given object that is in the lookthatup database. The application bridges
the gap between offline and digital content by using an image taken with the
phone, indexing it and matching it against an expansive online database of more
than 2 million items. New content is added to the database daily, featuring
varied items such as paintings from large museums, movie posters, DVD/CD covers
and more. Users can instantly share their `lookups` via Twitter, Facebook or
email and can sign up for personal accounts on lookthatup.com which lets them
bookmark and organize their favorite lookups online. Users can even make
unmatched lookups searchable by adding them to the database.

LTU Developer Program

LTU technologies has expanded its developer program providing open access to the
platform API. The LTU developer network is designed to enable developers to
evaluate and integrate image matching and similarity search functionality easily
and risk-free. In addition, LTU technologies is also offering developers who do
not already have their own content to quickly and easily build and test
applications using the content available in the lookthatup database.
