Foaming Baby Wipes Solution by Northern Essence May Pose a Health Risk

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Apr 22 (MARKET WIRE) --
Health Canada is warning Canadians that the cosmetic product Foaming Baby
Wipes Solution by Northern Essences of Georgia is contaminated with
bacteria. Health Canada is advising retailers to remove this product from
their shelves. Consumers with this product are instructed to immediately
stop using it and dispose of it in their regular household garbage.
The Foaming Baby Wipes Solution is in a clear bottle with a white label
and carries the Universal Product Code 2008100227. It is manufactured by
Northern Essence of Georgia, USA.
This product is contaminated with Micrococcus species of bacteria. This
species of bacteria may cause urinary tract infections, skin infections,
or result in more serious complications in people with weakened immune
systems. Health Canada became aware of the contamination through its
routine sampling and testing program.
The numbers of units sold are not known at this time.
The Northern Essence website lists three Canadian retailers; however, it
may also be sold in other stores and is available for sale over the
internet at www.northernessence.com.
The names of the stores listed on the website and where it was found are
as follows:

-- Calins et Popotin (Montreal, QC)
-- A Mother=s Touch (Ottawa, ON)
-- Vive la vie (Ste-Marie de Beauce, QC)
Health Canada is working with Canada Border Services Agency to stop
future importation of any shipments of this product from entering Canada.
Health Canada has not received any complaints related to the use of this
product. Consumers who have purchased this product and have had adverse
health effects are advised to consult with a health care provider.
