BUFFALO GROVE, IL, Apr 22 (MARKET WIRE) --
Indeck Energy Services, Inc., a privately held developer, owner and
operator of renewable and conventional energy projects, is exploring
co-firing of coal and wood pellets as a green, renewable energy solution.
The University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire campus was the testing site for a
one month study on the efficiency of co-firing.

Indeck Energy produces Premium grade wood pellet fuel for industrial and
residential use at the Indeck Ladysmith BioFuel Center in Ladysmith, Wis.
Industrial grade wood pellet fuel burns at up to 8,250 BTUs and has an
ash content of less than 3 percent as compared to the 8 percent ash
content of coal.

In the test, the Eau Claire campus power plant replaced 15 percent of its
coal with Indeck Energy Wood Pellets and saw no reduction in the
efficiency of the plant. By reducing the quantity of coal used, the
co-firing test also reduced greenhouse gas emissions of carbon dioxide,
sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide at the plant by 15 percent.

"Wood pellets burn more efficiently than other alternative fuels," said
Mike Curci, Indeck Ladysmith BioFuel Center plant superintendent. "We can
substitute wood pellets in place of coal because of their high BTU and
low ash content. Other alternatives, like whole tree chips, just don't
burn efficiently due to their inconsistent moisture content."

Site surveys have been conducted at the power plants located on the
University of Wisconsin La Crosse, Superior, River Falls, Stevens Point
and Stout campuses in order to determine each location's ability to
co-fire wood pellets with coal without a need to change the facility's
existing infrastructure.

Indeck Energy plans further testing and implementation of its co-firing
model with several Midwest utilities in the late spring and summer of
2010.

privately held developer, owner and operator of renewable and
conventional energy projects. As one of the few remaining privately held
independent power producers, it has grown into a full-service energy
company that offers biofuels production and electrical generation
facilities. The company was established in 1985 and is headquartered in
Buffalo Grove, IL.
