April 23 (Reuters) - The Tokyo Stock Exchange [TSE.UL] is likely to post a net loss of about 5 billion yen ($53.60 million) for the year ended March 31, weighed down by lower trading and damages it had to pay related to a system error, the Nikkei business daily said.

The bourse may now look to delay its public debut date, in light of adverse market conditions, the paper said.

The TSE, long derided as one of the world's slowest major exchanges, was planning to go public after this month.

Last December, the Tokyo district court ordered the TSE to pay 10.7 billion yen in damages to Mizuho Securities Co 8606.T for a botched trade in 2005 in which Mizuho was unable to cancel a misstated order. ($1=93.28 YEN) (Reporting by Anurag Kotoky in Bangalore; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
