WASHINGTON, April 29 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama has been briefed on how the growing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico may interfere with shipping channels, which could affect tankers delivering petroleum supplies to the U.S. market, the White House said on Thursday.

"You have shipping channels that areas of the spill could soon be in," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.
