WASHINGTON, April 29 (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and fellow Democrats on Thursday unveiled a "framework" for a sweeping overhaul of U.S. immigration laws.

In wake of the furor over Arizona's crackdown on illegal immigrants, Democrats said the first step toward reform must be bolstered border security.

They also called for creation of a high-tech identification card for immigrant workers, a new process to admit temporary workers, "tough sanctions" against U.S. employers who hire illegal immigrants, and, eventually, a path toward U.S. citizenship for people in the country unlawfully.

With an estimated 10.8 million illegal immigrants in the United States, Reid said, "Democrats and Republicans can all agree that our immigration system is broken" and called for bipartisan cooperation to fix it.

Reid said the "framework" is based on months of negotiations that involved Senator Charles Schumer, a member of the Democratic leadership.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham was also in those talks and last week said more work needed to be done before any such legislation is brought before Congress to consider.

Graham accused Reid, who is in tough re-election campaign, of prematurely pushing immigration reform in an effort to rally Hispanic voters in his home state of Nevada. (Reporting by Thomas Ferraro and Richard Cowan; editing by Will Dunham)

Each day that this reform is not passed, republicans are allowing more crime, drug cartel control, and more illegal people passing the border. Republicans are allowing the big corporations not to legalize the work force allowing exploitation.

The reform must be done to prepare us to compete with China. The economic recovery is on it’s way, this country will soon than later cheap workforce. We must do the reform to stop abuse and a growing illegal work force. We need to bring legal workers and stop border corruption.

Graham accused Obama of not bringing up the Immigration Reform a month ago; now DEMs brought it up and he’s backing up. Why ? That’s what a call a political plot. The Borders are more secure now than ever before; of course needs improvements, but that got to be a continuous effort along an Immigration Reform. A simple sample is like denying that New York City is safer now than 20 years ago, some will say there is still crime, of course crime in a City like New York will never be eradicate a 100%; the same applies to a 2600 miles of border it will be never 100% secure, not even militarized ones like Korea or Israel. So stop the political Plot and get back to work on all Reforms needed NOW.

Read the IMMIGRATION BILL carefully. Anything written by Reid/Pelosi will likely contain a hidden provision for blanket amnesty and free U.S. citizenship.

Remember that strange figure of 30-40 million uninsured the democrats kept floating during the Socialist Health Care Takeover bill? Two words … illegal immigrants.
