UPDATE 1-Dollar Financial Q3 profit beats Street view

May 4 (Reuters) - Dollar Financial Corp (DLLR.O) posted a third-quarter adjusted profit above market estimates, helped by higher fees from its consumer lending business, and tightened its full-year earnings forecast largely above Wall Street view.

For the latest quarter, the company posted a net loss of $12.2 million, or 51 cents a share, compared with a profit of $5.7 million, or 24 cents a share, a year earlier.

On a pro forma basis, the payday lender and pawnshop operator earned 40 cents a share.

Total revenue rose 33 percent to $157.3 million.

Analysts expected a profit of 34 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $148.5 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S..

The company narrowed its full-year operating earnings view to between $1.95 and $2.00 from $1.80 and $2.00 a share. Analysts were expecting earnings of $1.96 a share.

Shares of the Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based company closed at $22.62 Tuesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Archana Shankar in Bangalore; Editing by Anil D'Silva)
